Appeal a Citation

PARKING CITATION APPEAL

All appealed parking citations, within 14 days of issuance of the citation, will be entered into a single source database to be reviewed by ATLPlus, City of Atlanta’s Parking Administration Review Board, and the Atlanta Municipal Court. All parking fees, including late fees, will be suspended during the appeals process.

What Should I Include in my Parking Citation Appeal?

If an appeal is related to a parking meter, pay station, or pay by app violation, be sure to include any documentation you have related to proof of payment, up to three attachments. Examples of documentation:

  • Photos of the vehicle (in violation)
  • Photos of license plate
  • Screen shots of the payment app (be sure that the license plate number is visible)
  • Proof of Payment validating transaction amount
  • Additional Parkmobile vehicles (if you have additional vehicles listed in your app, please provide those license plate numbers as well)
  • Meter Receipt (only valid if tags match tag on receipt)
  • Handicap Placard/License Plate (with identification)
  • Vehicle of Registration
  • Vehicle Bill of Sale

If an appeal is related to having a permit to park in a restricted area, be sure to include any documentation you have related to a valid, issued permit, up to three attachments. Examples of documentation:

  • Photos of the vehicle (in violation)
  • Photos of license plate
  • Handicap Placard/License Plate
  • Paid Residential/Commercial Permit Invoice
  • Commercial Parking Permit
  • Residential Parking Permit

PARKING CITATION APPEAL

You will receive a confirmation email upon receipt of your citation appeal. All upheld citations from ATLPlus will automatically be forwarded to the City of Atlanta’s Administrative Parking Review Board for additional review and quality assurance. If the City of Atlanta’s Administrative Parking Review Board upholds the citation it will be forwarded to the Atlanta Municipal Court for court hearing date assignment. The Atlanta Municipal Court will send you a notification letter with an assigned court hearing date. At anytime during this process, your parking citation is dismissed, you will be notified by email.

Frequently Asked Parking Citation Appeal Questions

Parking appeals must be submitted within 14 days of the issuance of the ticket. Appeals will not be filed after 14 days of the issuance of the ticket.

The Citation Number and a License Plate Number or Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) is required.

Up to three (3) attachments are accepted per parking citation appeal.

You will receive a confirmation notification when your parking citation appeal has been received. Subsequently you will receive a notification once your parking citation appeal has been reviewed which will provide additional information on any further action required.

All citizens have the right to appeal a parking citation in the Atlanta Municipal Court system. A Rapid Citation Review process has been implemented through ATLPlus and the City of Atlanta’s Parking Administrative Review Board to review the accuracy and validity of appealed parking citations prior to assigning an Atlanta Municipal Court hearing date. Upon completion of the Rapid Citation Review you will receive notification informing you that the parking citation has been dismissed (no further action required) or that your parking citation has been upheld.

All customers receiving notice of an upheld parking citation have the option to pay the original fine amount (with in 14 day of being notified) or the appeal will automatically be passed on to the Atlanta Municipal Court for hearing assignment. No additional action is required on the customer’s part to have a parking citation appeal entered into the Atlanta Municipal Court system. After Rapid Citation Review notification please allow 45-60 days for the parking citation appeal to be reviewed and processed in the Atlanta Municipal Court system. Once the parking citation appeal has been reviewed and processed, a court hearing date will be assigned to you and you will receive notification in the mail.

Once a court hearing date is assigned you must pay your citation or appear in court on the assigned date. If you do not attend your assigned court hearing you will be deemed as Failure to Appear. A Failure to Appear will result in you being found liable for the parking violation. If you Fail to Appear for your assigned court hearing, late fees will be added to the cost of your parking citation. You will need to make payment for the parking citation and any related fees at www.atlplusmobility.com.

You can pay a parking citation anytime by going to www.atlplusmobility.com and selecting Pay A Citation. Once a parking citation is paid, you will receive a notification confirming that the parking citation was paid and no additional action is needed. Please be sure to save this notification for future reference.

Even after submitting a parking citation appeal you can still decide to pay it which will end the parking citation appeals process. Payment of a parking citation will result in the end of the parking citation appeal. Payments can be made at www.atlplusmobility.com. You can make payment for a parking citation up to 48 hours before your assigned court hearing date. After this time frame, parking citations can only be paid at the Atlanta Municipal Court.

In the event that you do not have computer access, you must file your parking appeal form in person at 150 Garnett Street, Atlanta, GA 30303. Parking citation dispute forms may be filed in person or mailed to the same address.
